Summer Time Sun Burn

1. If you have a burn the first thing you need to do is to apply Aloe Vera gel and a rich cream containing shea butter. This is the number one treatment for burns because it soothes and heals the skin. Store your aloe vera gel in the refrigerator all summer so it smoothes on cool and refreshing.

Make sure to stay away from Vaseline or petroleum-based lotions. They block the skin's ability to breathe and sweat only intensifying the problem.

2. If you notice your burn seems to be getting worse after a shower or later in the day, take a cooling bath with oatmeal. Most burns really show up two to six hours after your day in the sun, but an oatmeal-based wash offers great relief.

 3. DO NOT pick at blisters or peels. Treat sunburned skin the same way you would a regular burn like from a hot stove -- apply a natural cream with a strong humectant such as urea to the area. The urea will also provide anti-itch properties as well as prevention of infection.

4. If you need to camouflage "lobster face" simply apply your regular foundation by dabbing it it on in light stippling motions. Use a non-latex sponge so you don't irritate your skin any further. If you are peeling badly you should skip face powder for this will only showcase the peeling flaking skin. Instead use blotting papers for oil control.

5. Use a lip balm that has healing and moisturizing properties.   It is important to keep, yes, even your lips, moist to prevent extreme dryness and possible cracking.
