Body Odor Can Be Controlled!
Body Odor Explained:
Deodorant protection shouldn't be a mystery. After all, everyone deals with body odor to varying degrees since this is part of the human physiology. With so many products on the market, why are we still searching for a way to stop the B.O.? Because first we need to understand the cause of body odor in order to find the right solution for our deodorant protection.
The human body has two types of sweat glands: eccrine and apocrine. Eccrine glands are present all over, and typically secrete sweat that is mostly made of water. This type of sweat helps to keep us cool when our body is becoming heated either through temperature or exertion such as exercise or work.
Apocrine glands, on the other hand, are located in targeted areas of the body such as the armpits, areola and nipples of the breast, ear canal, eyelids, wings of the nostril, perianal region, and some parts of the external genitalia. The apocrine glands release proteins and lipids which bacteria, that live on the skin, feed on the secreted proteins and lipids and digest them leaving behind a foul smell otherwise known as B.O. Although each person's unique body odor can be influenced by diet, gender, health, and medication, it is actually the result of bacteria breaking down protein into certain acids that makes that "stinky" smell. Sweating can also cause fungi to develop thereby adding to the smell factor.
Bacteria NATURALLY occurs on the skin and provides a barrier that's one of the first lines of defense against harmful microbes. Research shows that these bacteria might play a role in skin health and immune responses. The diverse community of bacteria that live on our skin is collectively known as the skin microbiota.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You should know that certain inflammatory disorders of the skin have been linked to a change in the nature of the bacteria that we have on the skin and it appears that these bacteria can manipulate immune responses and inflammation. Hence the importance of properly caring for your skin - every inch of it.
Warning: Is Your Antiperspirant And Deoderant SAFE?
Most of the products on the market are a combination of antiperspirant and deodorant. The controversy comes with the "antiperspirant" part. Antiperspirants are formulated to block the flow of sweat from sweat glands to reduce wetness. Why would this process be harmful to the body? Because this prevents the body from "purging toxins," which, when trapped, find their way into the lymph nodes, where they concentrate and contribute to the cellular changes that may lead to disease. Sweating is part of the healthy function of the human body and to stop this process for the sake of preventing body odor is putting people's health at risk.
One company actually posted this proud statement concerning their antiperspirant: "Our unique formula allows our product to be absorbed into the sweat glands where it causes the glands to stop producing sweat and lasts for up to 7 days of protection". Anything that acts like an occlusive is going to disrupt the natural process the body was designed to perform and cause some transformation to the bodily system it is affecting.
Since the early 1960's studies have been done on the possible dangers of chemical laden antiperspirant/deodorants and while somewhat conflicting, those advocating the disruption of the mainstream products on the market, feel strongly that the aluminum, parabens and other dangerous ingredients may very well affect the kidneys, lymph nodes and brain functioning such as is the case in Alzheimer's Disease.
In this day and time, we are seeing more and more people turn to natural forms of hygiene and many quite agree that this is necessary in light of the chemical filled world we live in.
How To Control Body Odor:
1) Cleanse your body on a daily basis with a pH balanced cleanser that is thorough yet very gentle that will not strip away your natural acid mantle that exists on healthy skin. Most of the soaps, washes, and cleansers on the market are either too acidic or too alkaline thereby destroying this natural protective layer.
2) Spray on a naturally based deodorant such as what we have formulated, to nourish your skin and prevent overgrowth of protein and lipid eating bacteria. Remember that there must be balance on the skin and our formula provides just that.
3) Include fresh vegetables and fruits as well as drink plenty of fresh clean water on a daily basis. This will help keep balance on the inside thereby helping to keep balance on the outside - your skin.
4) Practice relaxing mediation to keep you calm and anxiety free.
5) Use only pH balanced creams and lotions on your body (such as our product line that is carefully formulated to restore and keep the pH of your skin) as this will make for a much healthier and resilient skin.
